Etcetera. Well, CAN you actually get rich with these get-rich-quick schemes?
There are two answers: Yes and No.

Let me take the Yes first, and explain to you exactly how the so-called marketing gurus do it.
In a nutshell, MLM is just a variation on the pyramid schemes. Most of these MLM sites actually even show you a graphical representation of a pyramid scheme, with all the suckers at the bottom sending their money to the guy at the top: you. Well, the first thing to understand is that the guy at the top isn’t you: it’s the marketing guru who launched the scheme. I’m not saying that the marketing gurus aren’t good at what they do, they are excellent at it. And what they do is this: they suck you in with catchy headlines, videos of yachts and mansions and tropical beaches, and pics of themselves looking smug and successful. And then they sell you an E-book, and let you promote it for them.

Now let’s take the second answer: No you can’t. Pyramid schemes don’t work. They work up to a point for the 5 or so people in the top, but they ALLWAYS peter out, in the end. The reason is simple: If you’re really on top of the marketing game, you can sell anything to anyone. The fact of the matter is that not everyone is a marketing guru, most don’t even come close. The only way a pyramid scheme like this could really work, is if every marketing guru were to train everyone he recruits to be just as good at the game, all the way down the line to the bottom of the pyramid. And that is just totally impossible.

I’ve been selling online since 1999, and am signed up with literally hundreds of sponsors. Most of them have referral programs, and if I would bother to count, I probably have tens of thousands of affiliates in my downline by now. And the referral fees I earn from them are negligable. In the end you’ll allways earn more from your own sales than from referred affiliates, unless you spend all your time and energy in actively training and encouraging them. Of course you can get lucky and a whale signs up under you. That happened to me once actually. It was a Pay per Click program, and I was earning something like $50 a day in referral percentages from him. Unfortunately I never saw a cent of it, the program didn’t pay me, and I dropped them. They disappeared shortly afterwards.

So to summarise: You CAN get rich with MLM, but not quickly or easily. You have to become a real marketing guru, and lie to people about how rich they can become if they sign up under you. And you have to work hard at it, it doesn’t come easy, and there are thousands more doing exactly the same as you, so the competition is tough.
