5: Site design
To be honest, I had this whole html tutorial almost ready to put up here. But I’ve decided against it.
In these days of Web 2.0, one doesn’t actually even need to know anything about html any more.
With free tools, one can build a better-looking, better-optimised site with much less hassle. Take this site, for instance: it’s running on WordPress. Building something like this from scratch, with all the options including a site search feature, would be somewhat of a nightmare. Or take a look at some other examples:
Amsterdam-Redlightdistrict.com is also running on a Woo-themes theme, like MakeMoneySellingPorn.com. The theme I use on it requires quite a few customisations, so I have to update it manually. The content is Flash videos from Payserve’s Red Light Sextrips
FreeMilfTour.com uses the FeedWordPress plugin to pull RSS feeds from AnilosCash and TopBucks. As you can see, it’s updated regularly…by the sponsors! Every time they update their RSS feeds, new entries are added to FreeMilfTour.com automatically.
All 3 of these sites look pretty complicated, but I can assure you that setting them up was a breeze.
Here is a 6-step plan to get you up and running quickly:
- Get yourself a host with one-click installs of WordPress (Like nakedhosting.com )
(If you use a host that doesn’t offer this feature, no panic: you can download WordPress and install it yourself as well, it just takes a bit longer and setting up the database can be daunting if you’ve never done it before) - Set up WordPress on your domain
- Find yourself a nice WordPress Theme. There are literally thousands of great free themes available.
- Install the FeedWordPress Plugin
- Syndicate some RSS feeds from your sponsors
- Sit back and relax!
While some are pretty slick-looking, most free WordPress themes are quite basic.
To give a site more pizzaz, you could go for a Premium Wordpress theme.
